Talmiz Ahmad joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1974 and has served as Ambassador in Oman, the UAE and Saudi Arabia. He was Additional Secretary for International Cooperation in the Ministry for Petroleum and Natural Gas and Director General of the Indian Council of World Affairs, New Delhi. His latest book West Asia at War was published in 2022. He holds the Ram Sathe Chair for International Studies, Symbiosis International University, Pune, India, and regularly writes and lectures on West Asian politics, the Indian Ocean, Eurasia, and energy security.
Sanjay Singh is an alumnus of Delhi University. He joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1976 and served in Indian missions in Mexico, Germany, Ghana, Vietnam and France. He was India’s Ambassador to Iran and Secretary (East) in the Ministry of External Affairs. Since retirement he has been working with various institutions on issues related to foreign affairs and was President of the Association of Indian Diplomats.
Rakesh Sood joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1976, serving in Brussels, Dakar, Geneva, and Islamabad, and as Deputy Chief of Mission in Washington, D.C. He also set up the Disarmament and International Security Affairs Division in the Foreign Ministry. He has served as India’s first Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva and as Ambassador to Afghanistan, Nepal and France. From 2013-14 he was Special Envoy of the Prime Minister for Disarmament and Non-proliferation. He is currently Distinguished Fellow at the Council for Strategic and Defence Reseach, New Delhi.
Navtej Sarna joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1980 and was India’s Ambassador to the United States, High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ambassador to Israel. He has also served as Secretary to the Government of India and as the Foreign Office Spokesperson. His earlier diplomatic assignments were in Moscow, Warsaw, Thimphu, Tehran, Geneva, and Washington DC. He is an award-winning author of several works of fiction and non-fiction and a prolific columnist and commentator on foreign policy and literary matters.
Dr T C A Raghavan joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1982 and was India’s High Commissioner to Singapore and Pakistan. He has served as Director General of the Indian Council of World Affairs, New Delhi (2018-21) and is a former President of the Association of Indian Diplomats. Since retirement he has authored a number of biographical and historical works. He is a member of the Governing Council of the Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies, New Delhi, Adjunct Professor, School of Conflict and Security Studies, National Institute of Advanced Study, Bangalore, and Visiting Professor at the School of International Studies, Jawahar Lal Nehru University, New Delhi.
